Xiongan 500kV Substation Successfully Commissioned | Jinhuan Steel Structure Empowers Green Energy Infrastructure

Jinhuan Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd. proudly announces the successful commissioning of the Xiongan 500kV Substation, the second newly built 500kV substation in Xiongan New Area, China. As a key project under China’s “14th Five-Year Plan,” this milestone has been featured on national television and marks a significant step in enhancing the power grid infrastructure while promoting 100% clean energy supply.

The Xiongan 500kV Substation is the only 500kV hub project directly named after Xiongan and serves as a crucial node in the region’s green energy network. Jinhuan Steel Structure was responsible for the fabrication and installation of the steel structures, façade systems, roofing waterproofing, interior and exterior finishing, and drainage systems for four main buildings: the 500kV switchgear building, the 220kV switchgear building, the main control and communications building, and the fire pump house. The total construction area covers 11,623 square meters, utilizing 1,750 tons of steel in a 100% bolted steel structure design.

During the project, the Jinhuan team implemented strict quality control and precision engineering. The steel frame was assembled with millimeter-level accuracy, ensuring a solid foundation for subsequent systems. Interior and exterior finishing incorporated optimized wall panel layouts, waterproof joint techniques, and thoughtfully coordinated color schemes, delivering a clean, functional, and visually cohesive environment. Through careful planning and management during winter rains and multi-discipline operations, the project achieved full compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.

The commissioning of the Xiongan 500kV Substation enables the continuous transmission of clean energy from Inner Mongolia’s solar power and Zhangbei’s wind power to Xiongan New Area. Together with 17 existing smart substations, it contributes to a clean energy supply system where external green power dominates, supplemented by local renewable energy. Jinhuan received official recognition from the State Grid Hebei Electric Power Transmission and Transformation Co., Ltd. for professional project management, technical innovation, and reliable delivery.
