Coal Storage Workshop of Sarachi Railway Special Line | China

Project Description
Truss Steel Structure Canopy Project
Project Overview
The Truss Structure Canopy covers over 90,000 m² and features inverted triangle trusses. Each truss spans 127.25 meters and weighs 40 tons, with a height of 3-4 meters and a 19-meter eaves height. The project includes active railway lines running between spans, adding complexity to the construction.
Key Features
-
Building Area: 90,000 m²
-
Truss Length: 127.25 meters
-
Truss Weight: 40 tons
-
Eaves Height: 19 meters
-
Railway Lines: Active system for coal transport
-
Column Spacing: 48.75m, 60.5m (transverse), 15m (longitudinal)
Design and Structure
The inverted triangle trusses provide strength and stability for the large canopy. The railway system added operational challenges, requiring innovative construction techniques.
Installation Challenges
To overcome challenges with the active railway, we used pushing-up cumulative slip construction and hydraulic synchronous slip technology. The project achieved a 564-meter slip distance, the longest in Asia at the time.
Impact
This project is a significant achievement in steel construction and engineering, using advanced technologies to ensure operational continuity and structural integrity.
