Tianjin International Convention & Exhibition Center – Large-Scale Steel Structure Fabrication

The Tianjin International Convention & Exhibition Center is a landmark project located in the middle reaches of the Haihe River, serving the coordinated development strategy of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei. Ranked as the third largest international exhibition center in China, following Guangzhou and Shanghai, this center represents a major milestone in large-scale steel construction.

Project Overview

• Planned land area: 1.31 km²

• Total construction area: 1.34 million m²

• Exhibition hall area: 400,000 m²

• Total investment: 17.5 billion yuan

• Planned completion: end of 2020

The project has set seven world records, including the highest steel consumption in the global housing construction sector, reaching 220,000 tons.

Structural Details
The center is mainly composed of three sections:

1. Central Hall – Supported by 32 large umbrella-shaped steel structures with a diameter of 30 meters and a height of 34 meters, connecting the north and south squares.

2. Exhibition Halls – Complex steel structures designed to accommodate large crowds and flexible exhibition layouts.

3. Traffic Corridors – Integrated structural design to ensure smooth pedestrian and vehicle flow.

Jinhuan’s Role
Jinhuan Steel Structure Engineering Co., Ltd. was responsible for:

• Fabrication and processing of umbrella-shaped steel structure supports in the central hall

• Production of complex steel structures in the exhibition halls
